This is a political column masquerading as an NFL Picks column.

Politics is sports. Sports is politics. And it’s all pop culture. Here at WhatZgonnahappen, it’s about political football.

As for the weekly NFL picks – I am the only predictions columnist in the universe with the guts to admit I don’t know what’s going to happen in the NFL

I am clueless. I predict the games anyway, mostly as a way to rant about what happened and worry about, you know, what’s gonna happen.

This column began at NFLtalk.com in the late 1990s. It was modeled after the greatest predictions column ever, those by Leigh Montvile in the Boston Globe in the 1980s.

In the process, I’ve added a few things to the formula. It is led by a quote or song lyric. It is sponsored by something absurd. For several years, something fatal has happened to Ray Lewis every week.

And my favorite team, the Cleveland Browns, win every week in my column. Every single week… My predictions are often wrong.

I am a journalist and the author of several books including a collaboration with Joe Theismann on The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Football. Yes, I am an idiot, but I am professional. My ethnic group is Idiot-American.

There is one of us in almost every family.
